Amazon Region Protected Areas Program

The ARPA is a program of the Federal Government and its mission is to protect the biodiversity of the Amazon in a significant and representative manner and to promote sustainable development for present and future generations. The program is considered to be the largest initiative for the protection of biodiversity; its objective is to protect and implement 50 million hectares of conservation units (UCs), at a total cost of US$ 400 million.
