Web Reef Advisory System
Beschreibung:
(no longer updated) WRAS is an online application to input, view, and analyse Reef Check survey data. It calculates indicators of how good or bad a shape a particular reef is in, and what the underlying causes may be, based on Reef Check surveys. WRAS was developed in collaboration with WorldFish Center (ReefBase Project), University of Rhode Island, and the University of Southern California. We welcome any feedback on improvements or modifications of this first version of WRAS.

Word Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases
Beschreibung:
The World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases (WDCGG) is one of the WDCs under the GAW programme. It serves to gather, archive and provide data on greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4, CFCs, N2O, surface ozone, etc.) and related gases (CO, NOx, SO2, VOC, etc.) in the atmosphere and ocean, as observed under GAW and other programmes. This web site provides information on greenhouse gases, including WDCGG publications and measurement data contributed by organizations and individual researchers around the world.

Tropical Ecosystem Environment Observation by Satellites
Beschreibung:
The TREES Project was established in 1991 by European Commission's Joint Research Centre to collect accurate and up-to-date data of the Earth's tropical forest resources...pin-pointing where and why forests are disappearing". This site describes the project, its objectives, activities, products and publications, with three continental sections; Latin America, Africa and South-East Asia. Each of these links to; cartographic digital products, identification of deforestation hot-spots, tropical forest change assessment with high- resolution satellite data, remote sensing sources, and related websites. Digital map data can be downloaded by anonymous ftp direct from this site. The TREES 2 results are just published . Significant publications & technical reports since 1998 can be accessed at this site.

TOMS

Ausgeschrieben:
Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer
Beschreibung:
The Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer, launched in July 1996 onboard an Earth Probe Satellite (TOMS/EP), continues NASA's long-term daily mapping of the global distribution of the Earth's atmospheric ozone. TOMS/EP will again take high-resolution measurements of the total column amount of ozone from space that began with NASA's Nimbus-7 satellite in 1978 and continued with the TOMS aboard a Russian Meteor-3 satellite until the instrument stopped working in December 1994. This NASA-developed instrument, measures ozone indirectly by mapping ultraviolet light emitted by the Sun to that scattered from the Earth's atmosphere back to the satellite. The TOMS instrument has mapped in detail the global ozone distribution as well as the Antarctic "ozone hole," which forms September through November of each year.
