Butterfly Conservation Europe
Beschreibung:
Butterflies and moths are declining seriously in most countries across Europe. Action is needed urgently at a European level to halt their decline and restore a countryside rich in butterflies, moths and other wildlife. Organisations and friends in various countries across Europe have therefore come together to form Butterfly Conservation Europe. This exciting new initiative was started in November 2004 in a collaboration between Butterfly Conservation (UK), Dutch Butterfly Conservation and several other countries. BC Europe will act as an umbrella organisation both to stimulate and co-ordinate conservation action for butterflies, moths and their habitats across Europe. It is not a membership organisation, nor a charity, but a legal entity registered in The Netherlands that operates through Network Partners and individuals in each country.

ISAE

Ausgeschrieben:
International Society for Applied Ethology
Beschreibung:
The Society was created in Edinburgh in 1966, as the Society for Veterinary Ethology (SVE). It rapidly expanded to cover all applied aspects of Ethology and other Behavioural Sciences, which are relevant to many human-animal interactions, such as farming, wildlife management, the keeping of companion and laboratory animals, and the control of pests. The Society also quickly became increasingly international: it now has a federal, international structure as well as regional representatives around the world. In 1991, on the 25th anniversary of the SVE, the society was re-named the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE).

ACAP

Ausgeschrieben:
Amphibian Conservation Action Plan
Beschreibung:
The Amphibian Conservation Summit of 2005 produced a consensus among academic scientists, conservation practitioners, and knowledgeable individuals influential in diverse societal contexts (see the ACS Declaration, Appendix 1). A subset of the ACS delegation (Appendix 2) also wrote ACAP, which is a multidisciplinary approach that provides a way forward in addressing the causes of declines and slowing or reversing the losses. There is not a single answer to preventing the extinction of more species, and as a result the plan will evolve as new information becomes available. For the first time, however, in ACAP we have a response that is at the scale of the challenge. Now we need to put the plan into action.

ASA

Ausgeschrieben:
Amphibian Survival Alliance
Beschreibung:
Although the Amphibian Conservation Action Plan (ACAP), drafted in 2005, outlined steps to understand and halt this unparalleled conservation crisis, implementation progress has been slow and uneven. This is due primarily to a lack of coordination and of funding. To address these problems and implement the ACAP more thoroughly, in August of 2009, an amphibian conservation ‘mini summit’ was convened in London. Participants reviewed ACAP implementation and prioritized activities considered to be most needed to ensure timely progress in conservation responses. Most importantly, the group agreed that the ASA should be formed as a consortium of organizations and institutions committed to thoroughly implementing the ACAP. The Alliance is to be the major force for the conservation of amphibians globally and will serve to bring focus, coordination, and leadership to address the world’s most serious extinction crisis.
