WGMS

Ausgeschrieben:
World Glacier Monitoring Service
Beschreibung:
For more than a century, the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) and its predecessor organizations have been compiling and disseminating standardized data on glacier fluctuations. Thereto, the WGMS annually collects glacier data through its scientific collaboration network that is active in more than 30 countries. In close collaboration with the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) and the Global Land Ice Measurements from Space (GLIMS) initiative, the WGMS runs the Global Terrestrial Network for Glaciers (GTN-G) in support of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC)

WDCGG

Ausgeschrieben:
Word Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases
Beschreibung:
The World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases (WDCGG) is one of the WDCs under the GAW programme. It serves to gather, archive and provide data on greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4, CFCs, N2O, surface ozone, etc.) and related gases (CO, NOx, SO2, VOC, etc.) in the atmosphere and ocean, as observed under GAW and other programmes. This web site provides information on greenhouse gases, including WDCGG publications and measurement data contributed by organizations and individual researchers around the world.

VCS

Ausgeschrieben:
Verified Carbon Standard
Beschreibung:
The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) formerly the Voluntary Carbon Standard is a quality standard for voluntary carbon offset industry. Based on the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism, VCS establishes criteria for validating, measuring, and monitoring carbon offset projects.

PMEL

Ausgeschrieben:
Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory
Beschreibung:
The Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) carries out interdisciplinary scientific investigations in oceanography and atmospheric science. Current PMEL programs focus on open ocean observations in support of long-term monitoring and prediction of the ocean environment on time scales from hours to decades. Studies are conducted to improve our understanding of the world’s oceans, to define processes driving the global climate system, and to improve environmental forecasting capabilities for public safety, marine commerce, and fisheries

NSIDC

Ausgeschrieben:
National Snow and Ice Data Center, Colorado
Beschreibung:
The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) supports research into our world's frozen realms: the snow, ice, glaciers, frozen ground, and climate interactions that make up Earth's cryosphere. NSIDC manages and distributes scientific data, creates tools for data access, supports data users, performs scientific research, and educates the public about the cryosphere. NSIDC distributes more than 500 cryospheric data sets for researchers, from both satellite and ground observations.

N-PRINT Initiative

Ausgeschrieben:
International Nitrogen Initiative
Beschreibung:
A project of the INI. INI strives to both "minimize the negative effects of nitrogen on hu man health and the environment" and "optimize the beneficial role of nitrogen in sustainable food production."

NDACC

Ausgeschrieben:
Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change
Beschreibung:
The international Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC) is composed of more than 70 high-quality, remote-sensing research stations for observing and understanding the physical and chemical state of the stratosphere and upper troposphere and for assessing the impact of stratosphere changes on the underlying troposphere and on global climate. While the NDACC remains committed to monitoring changes in the stratosphere with an emphasis on the long-term evolution of the ozone layer, its priorities have broadened considerably to encompass issues such as the detection of trends in overall atmospheric composition and understanding their impacts on the stratosphere and troposphere, and establishing links between climate change and atmospheric composition.

NAPD

Ausgeschrieben:
National Atmospheric Deposition Program of the US
Beschreibung:
n 1977, U.S. State Agricultural Experiment Stations (SAES) organized a project, later titled the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP), to measure atmospheric deposition and study its effects on the environment.

GTN-G

Ausgeschrieben:
Global Terrestrial Network for Glaciers
Beschreibung:
The Global Terrestrial Network for Glaciers (GTN-G) is the framework for the internationally coordinated monitoring of glaciers and ice caps in support of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). The network, authorized under the Global Climate/Terrestrial Observing System (GCOS, GTOS), is jointly run by the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS), the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), and the Global Land Ice Measurements from Space initiative (GLIMS)
