Acronyms

In order to facilitate communication especially in technical areas it is necessary to find abbreviations for long technical terms. Therefore acronyms were established using a sequence of first letters instead of the complete term. Especially in the scientific field related to environment, nature conservation and biodiversity we are confronted with a confusingly large number of acronyms, which stand for technical terms as well as names of institutions, projects, networks, committees, associations, organizations and initiatives. For your assistance we compiled a database of acronyms accessible on this website, which comprises of approximately 3,000 terms.

The acronym database is still in the development stage.
