Acronyms

The acronym database provides an exhaustive resource for abbreviations and technical/scientific terms commonly used in different areas of taxonomy and biodiversity research.

Especially in fields related to environment, nature conservation and biodiversity, we are confronted with a confusingly large number of acronyms, which stand for technical terms as well as names of institutions, projects, networks, committees, associations, organizations and initiatives. For your convenience we have compiled a database of over 3,500 acronyms, which is subject to ongoing revision.
